Greetings from the Video Game Society Squared!
Ever wanted to work with Video Games in a professional context? In a school setting? Without selling them to annoying customers? And even gain some valuable transferable skills to put on a RESUME? Then the Video Game Society is for YOU!
We are hiring 4 executives with another 1 assistant for them for the near future (Winter 2010 and beyond). Below are the positions and their descriptions. Please download the .doc below, fill out and reply to us at vgss@utsc.utoronto.ca, and good luck!
The following executive positions will be available for the year of 2009-2010:
External Entities Manager (1 position available)
Logistics Planner (1 position available)
Marketing Director (1 position available)
Graphics Designer (1 position available)
The following assistant positions will be available for the year of 2009-2010:
PC Gaming Assistant Coordinator (1 position available)

Executive Position Descriptions:
External Entities Manager:
The External Entities Manager will be responsible for representing VGS^2 in the gaming industry.
The gaming industry is a multi-billion dollar business with wide implication for many fields at UTSC. Our External Entities manager will be asked to approach potential industrial partners and inform them of the benefits of working with VGS^2, a vibrant and unique student group.
Candidates for this position will gain an insider's role into the massive gaming industry with far implications beyond campus life.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for seeking external funding and preparing sponsorship proposals
• Create and maintain relationships with external company sponsors
• In charge of all sponsorship and fundraising related activities
• Report to the President and Vice President on a weekly basis
vAny other duties deemed appropriate by majority vote of the executive members [/list]
Desired Skills:
• Flexible schedule
• Superior oral and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Can work independently and in teams
• Knowledge of gaming companies is an asset
Logistics Planner:
The Logistics Planner will be responsible for co-ordinating club resources to manage many of VGS^2's events and services.
Like to plan and make an event happen right? Logistics planning is for you! VGS^2 is a club with many, many resources ready to be harnessed properly. If you had ever thought any of our events (or gaming events in general) could have been done better, or with different features, the Logistics Planner will make it happen by arranging resources in a way to make it possible.
Candidates for this position will acquire valuable planning and organizational skills. They will also gain management skill as this position is quite high on the club hiearchy.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for booking rooms for the event
• Formulate a logistics plan for events assigned by the President and Vice President
• Oversee the smooth operation of events (including the set up and tear down of events)
• In charge notifying and reminding executives of what equipment and items they have to bring for events
• Report to the President and Vice President on a weekly basis
• Any other duties deemed appropriate by majority vote of the executive members
Desired Skills:
• Flexible schedule
• Superior oral and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
• Can work independently and in teams
Marketing Director:
The Marketing Director will join our Marketing team, and assist with getting the word about each and every VGS^2 event to all of UTSC!
VGS^2 events are fun in nature and always feature a vibrant atmosphere with many of today's popular games. We would like everyone to enjoy the games we bring out, which marketing would help to attract even more people to try us out! The Marketing Drector will be tasked to produce innovative posters and use all available marketing channels to connect with UTSC students.
Candidates for this position will exercise, and improve on their marketing abilities. Marketing is used for many of today's common activities (such as job hunting, retail and general capitalism), of which this position will be excellent to start now and learn these skills.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and execute endeavors that increase awareness and interest in the organization
• Oversee, develop and manage the organization's advertising, strategy and promotion functions.
• Assist the Graphics Designer in creating the buttons, links etc. for the website
• Responsible for putting up posters throughout the school
• Report to the President and Vice President on a weekly basis
Desired Skills:
• Flexible schedule
• Superior oral and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Can work independently and in teams
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
• Experience with Adobe Illustrator is an asset[/list]
Graphics Designer:
The VGS^2 graphics designer is responsible for creating all aspects of the website design (layout, button designs etc.). Since the website is a critical feature of informing individuals about our events and what the club entails, the graphics designer plays a crucial role within the club. In addition, they will also assist the marketing team in creating any part of their advertising plan.
Candidates for this position will grain critical knowledge in graphics design as well as allow individuals to gain experience in a team environment as well as learn to work independently.
Responsibilities:
• Design the layout of the website
• Responsible for any graphical changes needed for the website throughout the year
• Assist the Marketing Directors in the creation of the club logo
• Help the Marketing Directors to design posters and banners
• Report to the President and Vice President on a weekly basis
• Any other duties deemed appropriate by majority vote of the executive members
Desired Skills:
• Flexible schedule
• Superior oral and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Can work independently and in teams
• Experience with managing network resources

Our PC Gaming exec will be responsible for handling the other, longest running side of gaming: PC Gaming!
PC Gaming has been requested many times through VGS^2's second year. We're proud to launch this aspect of our club, but need a PC enthusiast to make it happen! We have some of the equipment necessary, but our PC Gaming exec need not worry about equipment. We would like an individual who has experience with LAN parties and/or online interfaces such as Steam/Battle.net, or is willing to learn about them.
Candidates for this position gain insights of managing computer resources over a LAN or WAN. As well, they will be managing personelle and limited resources thus management and logistics skills will be used and improved on.

• Responsible for creating and running pc related events
• Report to the President and Vice President on a weekly basis
• Any other duties deemed appropriate by majority vote of the executive members

i would apply for the PC gamer position,
but i honestly dont have a forgiving schedule, lots of involved courses
